Answer the following question in 75 words or more:
Which of the following lives would you choose for yourself and why? You become the best at what you do, gain fame and riches, but die young. Or, you become the best at what you do, gain fame and riches, and live a long life, but are fogotten by everyone after you retire. Explain why.
The life I would choose for myself , would be "for me to become the best at what I do, gain fame , be rich and live a long life but forgotten by everyone after I retire". I would choose that life because I wouldn't want to die young , I would want to live a long life and enjoy it, with all the money I have earned working hard. I wouldn't really care of getting forgotten by everyone once I retire because I didn't work hard to have everyone remember me, I worked hard for the money and to keep my family happy and wealthy.

DeleteI agree on what you said, I too believe that other individual’s opinion wouldn’t bother me.
DeleteAfter retirement because you will live a good life knowing you did something with yourself and helped your family on the way.

I strongly agree with your statement Omar. It was way better to live a longer life instead of dying very young. I believe its better because you get to see would come after your career. Yes, you will lose fame but its not always about fame; its also about family. Family always will come first and then your fans. But sometimes most player care more about thier fans and never pay attention to their loved ones.
DeleteI strongly agree with you Omar. You didn't earn that money to be remembered, you won it so you can spend it on things that you can ever dream of having and keeping your family safe and happy.
DeleteI agree with everything you had to say. Its better to live long then to die young. It doesn't matter if you are forgotten you dont play the sport to be remembered you play because you love it. You also get to live a long life with the people who love you and with the money you earned from playing the spot you loved.
DeleteI would choose to be good at what I do and have riches and fame but die young. I choose this because I would like to be remembered for something that I did and never be forgotten. Being remembered for something is amazing because everyone will talk about you and your hard work won’t go to waste. This also means that you will not be remembered for the bad things you did but for the good things you did for your fans, family, or country.
ReplyDeleteI believe someone better and more talented will always be born. They will always overshadow you and gradually force you into being forgotten. I disagree with what you say.
DeleteI agree with Gilberto, at the end of day there will always be someone out there who will be better than you. Life is not all about being famous, life's most precious moments come later down the road.
DeleteI agree with alexis. When you die your name still lives on. It would suck to live on knowing every one has forgotten you. People will always bring me up and say how much better I could have bin if I were still alive.
DeleteThe life I would choose for myself, would be to become the best at what I do while living a long life. I would be forgotten, but at some point everyone will be. I wouldn't want to die young and miss the most important things in life. Life is a precious thing and to die young is a tragedy. In the end, if I am able to live a long and prosperous life, I will die happy.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you, at one point everyone in the world will be forgotten. Although that is a sad thought, it is the truth. I would die happy knowing that I live a long life, as being remembered is not important to me.
DeleteI disagree, when being talented as you will be your actions and big game moments will never be remembered. All that hard work you put in will be a waste for trying to somebody in this world.
DeleteI agree with you because like you said everyone will be forgotten. I would want to live a long life with my family. I don't think it's worth dying young to be remembered.
DeleteThe life I would would choose for myself would be for me to be the best at what I do, gain fame and riches, but die young. I would rather gain the fame and die young because I would like to be remembered when I am gone. Life is only so precious if you make something out of it. Many people remember the bad things that people have done; however, I would like to be known for all my positive actions I brought to the world.
ReplyDeleteI disagree because when you work hard, you work hard for yourself, not for others, that's why you have to make out the best of life.
DeleteI agree, the only reason we try so hard to be good at something is to be remembered and to be known. It will be a shame if you retired and be forgotten.
DeleteI disagree, dying young in my opinion is one of the worst things that can happen. You will be missed by everyone in your family and people will think of what could have been.
DeleteI disagree with you because I would want to do more than just be an athlete star. I would want to travel the world and watch my kids grow and teach them the game also.
DeleteI agree with what you said. People will remember all the positive and good things you did! They will always remember you for what you did and how special it was. The last impression of you before you died was positive and that's how people remember you.
DeleteI agree with your point about making something out of your life. Being remembered for a sport that I played and loved would mean a lot. This has a positive influence on younger generations to come. For them to know if they try hard enough, they can succeed.
Deleteas much as I would prefer to live as long as I can, I would pick the first opton. I would not want to live in the past knowing how great I had it and how easy it use to be. I would rather die happily knowing that I left thev earth with a good name. Nothing feels worse then to be forgotten for the get things you've b done. Dieing haply with people remembering you will be a better death then to be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteWhat could you do with all your money and fame when your dead, when your dead none of this matters to you either way,you wont even know about it, plus you will barely be able to enjoy your life young and alive.
Deletei disagree with you everything you said first of all just because you become the best at what you do and die at the peak of your career doesn't mean your gonna leave the earth with a good name because its just a sport a game what you do with your life determines how people look at you and think of you.
DeleteI disagree with you because either way you are going to be forgotten for what you did. I don't see why you wouldn't be happy with all the money you would have and the opportunities that kind of money could bring you is extraordinary.
DeleteI agree with what Pablo said. Its just a sport. So you were good at the sport you played big deal its what happens outside of sports the truly matters. New people are born every day I feel that every body is going to be forgotten some day in their life.
DeleteI would rather become great at the sport I'm doing and live a long life rather then die early in my youth. I'm already use to having no one know about me growing up , so it wouldn't be any different to me after the fame. As seen in the movie, too much fame can lead to unhappiness and age never slows down.I'll already would have experienced the atmosphere and the feeling of the big stage; I would be perfectly fine with my accomplishments in life.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI absolutely agree I like how you view everything about the fame being too much for most. Because its really true; believe or not it ruins lives in ways you couldn't even imagine. Then again for some its the only thing that they're accustomed to is the big stage.
DeleteI disagree with this because just because you haven't experienced the big stage doesn't mean that you will adjust quickly with people forgetting how great you were. Stardom is like the a drug, once you have a little taste of it you will want more but once our wares off everything it's down hill from there
DeleteWith all the fame and riches I had for what I do best, I would choose to die young. The reason why I would choose to die young is because I rather have people remember me for what I did at the moment. Everyone would know me for one of the best volleyball players instead of someone who wasn't as good in 2014 and still is not as good as they were before. I would rather die as a legend and everybody remembers who I was. People would look up to me and say "hey you remember that great volleyball player!" and they would know that it was me. Thats why I would rather die young and being remembered as one of the greatest athletes in the world.
ReplyDeleteI would pick become the best at what I do, gain fame and riches, and live a long life, but are forgotten by everyone after I retire. If I died at a young age I wouldn't have memories with my kids and grandson’s. I prefer to live a longer life and have more memories. With all the money I would win that would be enough for me to be happy. I would live longer and live my life to the fullest.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with that. Wouldn't you miss how great you use to when ever you talk about it with your grandsons? It would suck showing your grandson who took over your fame and glory.
DeleteI disagree with Fransico. The reason is because at one point, no matter what your record will be broken by another great athlete in the present generation. And if you so choose to tell your grandsons that you used to be great player during your career, they will probably feel great knowing they had a great athletic grandfather. It would not suck showing that your fame and glory has been token over because thats how life is. So in this point, i agree with Alejandro.
DeleteI strongly agree, it would be great to have memories with your kids and grand kids. Memories with your family is great but I also believe that it is important to be remembered positively by others. I believe that the way people perceive you is the way they will perceive your family.
DeleteI would chose the second option and live my life. If I were to be the best at something while earning millions doing it,I would love to spend the money and do with it as I please. Whether you die or live your records will be broken, there is always someone better. I'm sure Id be famous enough after I retire if I were the best at something. I think its kind of ridiculous to rather die then live your life any way you want. You will have all the money you'll ever need. Also I would have a family I hope and I wouldn't want to abandon them for fame.
ReplyDeleteI rather live a long live and be forgotten for what I did, than to die and be remembered by many people. Because I would prefer to live a life where I can make errors and learn from them, then dying knowing I did something for myself and family. I can perhaps train or teach by being a coach of a team by being someone they can look up to and become good or better than me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your plan. You really thought outside of the box with this one. You can always move on, especially in sports again. You don't have to live that great life, then retire and do nothing as an old-timer. Move on and train the next generation.I agree with your plan. You really thought outside of the box with this one. You can always move on, especially in sports again. You don't have to live that great life, then retire and do nothing as an old-timer. Move on and train the next generation.
DeleteI agree with you on this because it would be better to teach someone else, who in the future can possibly be better than you. For me that would make me feel better as a person, knowing I taught someone else to become better
DeleteIf I were to become a famous athletic player I would want to die old. It will be nice to be famous, be others model and be really rich. I would want people to know who I was and know I played really great during my seasons. Yes, it will be sad that after I die I will be forgotten. Its better because you get to live a great life and you will experience a great life. Also, its better to die old because if you have family they will obviously want you to live longer as well. In sports I believe that it is not all about fame all the time, its also about what you feel for the sport and how you play the sport. If you want to have only fame you could probably end up committing stuff that could ruin your life. Meaning you could go into depression because you haven't meet your goals, and if you don't meet your goals you could usually end up using steroids or do something else. I would prefer in living a great long life and losing fame after my retirement.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with you because I prefer to die old then to die young and famous. Whats the point of life if you cant enjoy it or wont be able to enjoy it because you died young
DeleteI agree with you on the use of illegal drugs in sports, because trying to do drugs to improve your endurance could really jeopardize you and your reputation, even worse it could end up killing you.
DeleteI agree with you Alejandro , I also would want to die old because you'll get to enjoy your life more. Also I agree with you on the use of illegal drugs in sports , I think if any athlete is caught using drugs , they should get removed from their team/career because he/she is being a bad role model to the fans.
DeleteThis is the Dark Knight question, die and be a hero or live and be a villain. Except by villian, this means irrelevancy. I've heard a lot of things can happen to a man's mind after having a few years of amazingness. I wouldn't really choose to die, but if it doesn't matter I would need years to recoop
ReplyDeleteThe life I would choose for myself, would be to become the best at what I do, gain fame and riches, and live a long life, but be forgotten by everyone after I retire. I wouldn't want to die at such a young age because I would still have a long way ahead of me in future and see were it takes me. Also, I wouldn't want my family have to go through hard times knowing that I passed away at a young age cause thats every family's worst nightmare. I would enjoy life as much as I can with my family and take them out where ever they'll like to visit with the money I earned and just live to fullest before my time is up and have to leave this world.
ReplyDeleteExcatly, why would we put out families through such a depressing moment. Like you said I would rather spend time with the family with the money I have saved up. Just live the rest of my life to the fullest and then let nature take its course
DeleteI agree with you even though i chose to die at my youth. The only reason i wouldn't want to die young is so my family would not have to go through all the depression and stress.
DeleteI agree with you Jose , I wouldn't want to die young neither , I would rather live a long life and enjoy it with my family and all the money I made. Wouldn't really care about the fame , I rather have people not know who I am but will see me driving a Ferrari and have them wonder how I got one .

ReplyDeleteI would rather become the best at what I do, gain fame and riches, and live a long life. First of all there will always be somebody that comes and becomes better then you were and records have always be meant to be broken and always will be. There would be no point to all that hard work you had put in to become the best at what you do if you were to die young. Also everyone either young or old rich or poor everyone is eventually forgotten.
ReplyDeleteIt's not always like that, you can still be forgotten, but how you live your career will determine the dent on your life. Regardless if you're forgotten or dead
DeleteI agree with Ryan just because records are meant to be broken doesn't mean that they always will. For example Bill Russell has the most rings in NBA history with an astounding 11 rings. Yet no one since his time have come close to that not even Michael Jordan
DeleteIf I become the best at what I do and gain fame and riches, I would want to live a very long life. I have no problem with being forgotten, as most people usually are after death. Nothing will really matter as I will literally cease to exist. What does matter to me is living a full life, which means going through old age. I value life; I would not willingly cut my precious amount of time on the Earth down to simply be remembered.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Gilberto whats the point of dying at the peak of your career and being remembered longer if when you die you wont remember anything you will die you wont know if people remember you or not.
DeleteThe choice between dying young and never being forgotten or living longer and be a nobody. Easy choice, live longer of course. I would rather live longer and have time to spend my money than not being able to spend it because of how busy I would be. After all, after I would try again to be rememebered, how hard could that be in today's society. So live longer over dying young anyday of the week.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with you Aldo. What is the point of being famous and rich if you wont be able to enjoy that money or time with your family
DeleteI agree with you Aldo. You made all that money and fame and won't be able to enjoy it with yourself and with your family.
DeleteMy choice between living a short amazing life and being remembered is not even close to as good as living a long life, when your rich and you know you worked hard for what you did being famous doesn't even matter, life is a very precious thing and should not be misused, my answer to this question would be to live a long life and be forgotten because it all doesn't matter in the end.
ReplyDeleteOut of the two decisions of rather to die young or live a long life; I would pick to live a long life. I say this because I don't think it is worth dying young just so someone can remember you. I would rather live long and be with my family and loved ones. Also I think it would be interesting to see how close people get to breaking my records and when they finally do break them. I would be upset that someone did but I would love to congratulate them on such a prestigious accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with what you said feel the same way. Its not worth dying young so someone can remember you. Live your life, spend time with your family and be happy.
DeleteI can see where your coming from. Living out my life with my family and loved ones seems very much like the more obvious option. I think in the spirit of sportsman ship accepting the fact that someone one day might break a previous record of mine will be a glorious day for them and I would like to congratulate them as well.
DeleteThe life I would choose for myself would be to be the best at what I do, gain fame and riches, and live a long life but be forgotten by everyone after I retire. I want to live a long life. All that matters to me is that I know that I did good and it doesn't matter to me if people remember me. As long as I fulfilled my dreams, I will be happy. I would have the riches I made during my fame to live on in retirement. When I get to be retirement age, I would not want to be in the spot light anymore. I would want to live a quieter, more peaceful life.
ReplyDeleteThough my answer may seem like an extreme one I would rather die at the pinnacle of my success then to reach the top just to hit the bottom and be forgotten. A prime example of how death at the peak of your success can make you seem almost as an immortal would be 2pac and Biggie. Both died at the peak of their succeeds and yet they are arguably considered the greatest of all time. So many artist have came and gone but yet they have managed to be remembered and stood the test of time. Not an easy feat to do but possible at an ultimate price. The reason I feel so strongly about this is due to my personal opinion, my whole life is based on leaving a mark on this earth before my time is up. A great way to accomplish this is to die at the pinnacle of success and never be forgotten. If I am dead my future would seem almost limitless to what I could of accomplished if I continued to live, which is an almost indisputable feat to argue against. Besides, you can argue with a dead man 😄

DeleteYou really made some great points about leaving your mark on this earth, and I loved the 2pac and Biggie example.I actually agree with your point of view. Made me second guess my own personal opinion.
DeleteI really liked your response, it has some good points about ending your career at such a young age. I also agree with dying at your pinnacle point of success so you would never be forgotten.
DeleteYour examples of 2pac and Biggie made me think about how they left such huge impact in this world. For them to still be remember to this day for their rapping careers, it just makes me think that dying at your pinnacle may seem better.
DeleteI really liked your response, you had great points and examples on how those artists had a huge impact in this world. I strongly agree that dying at your pinnacle point will decrease the chance of you being forgotten.
DeleteI completely agree with you. No one knows if you died at your peak. People wouldn't think you could be starting to fall off, and you'll be the focal point for the sport that you have participated in for many times to come.
DeleteI agree with you because dying at your peak can have a big impact on the country or the world and it can change a lot of things .
DeleteThe life I would choose for myself would be to become the best athlete of my time. And then die at young age. This way I know that I live a fun lifeand I left this world doing what I love which is basketball. I don't think its a better feeling knowing that you did something good in your time and being never forgotten for that. And then this way I can be assured that my family and girl stable too. They don't have to worry about bills because I took care of them.

DeleteI completely agree, its a great feeling to know that you made it, then after you are unable to play competitively anymore. Your able to look back in life and acknowledge your accomplishments with your family.
DeleteThe life i would choose for myself is to gain fame and riches, and live a long life, but be forgotten by everyone after i retire. Since I am not the person who would be able to deal with all the fame that would come with being a great athlete, I would rather live through the best and worst point of my career. Since I would know I’ve done all I was physically able to for my team during my prime, and at my worst.
ReplyDeleteI would choose to be at the top and then die because that is when you feel the best. I would not want to be forgotten by everyone because that would make life depressing. I would want to die knowing that i was the best at what i do. Knowing that i was best would give me satisfaction and I would not want to do anything else. I would rather die at the top then live a depressing life after the fame.
ReplyDeleteI would rather die while at my peak and be remembered as the best while I was alive. It would be a great way to go out. I would not have to live with someone out doing me. Or surpassing my records. I will have died happy if I died at my peak. Doin what I love and doing it to the best of my abilities. I would hate to be like some of these older athletes in sports who were once thought of as superstars and have dwindled away.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, because I personally feel the same exact way. You'll always be remembered for all the great things you accomplished in your career.
DeleteI would choose to become the best at what I do and live my life long and when I retire nobody will remember because I rather have a longer career and live long. I want to enjoy my life after my great career. I honestly wouldn't care if nobody remembered who I was after I retired because I still had my fun and enjoy my long life after. I would not want to end my career short. I wouldn't want to die young either. If that was the case I wouldnt even get to enjoy any moment of my life because it would end so early.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great aspect of it Lael, you got to love both lives. A superstar athlete life and a long and happy life and being able to look back on how great you still are or once were is also a plus, even if someone has surpassed you.
DeleteI really don't care about the money. If it comes to being remembered as the best there ever was and dying young or fading away with riches and fame then be forgotten, in all honesty, I would choose the gain riches and fame and be remembered as the best, but die young option. I wouldn't just want to be another person to walk on this Earth, fading away gradually. To me the spoils and riches of becoming a popular and outstanding athlete mean nothing if people don't remember you for what you did in the future.
ReplyDelete
