Prologue

Using H.G. Bissinger's "Prologue" as a guide, "introduce" a player on your team or a collegiate/professional athlete (if you don't play any sports).  Make sure to describe how he/she looks and how he/she plays using vivid adjectives.

  1. Shane van Boening is the greatest Billiard(pool) player ever. He was born deaf and had to teach himself to talk no help from a speech specialist at all. At a young age he was picked on for beeing deaf. So know he has a hearing aid on thats he wears at all times. When he has a match he turns it off and litteraly hears nothing completely deaf which he uses in his favor because he focuses more. Hes one of the most feared players in the sport of billiards, he is favored to win every tournament he attends. He is great very strong when it comes to competing in pool. The crazy thing is he taught himself to play he has never had a pool coach learned playing by himseld running racks all day.

    1. I once watched a billiard tournament and I imagined that they all had to learn the tricks from someone, but the fact that he thought himself how to play is amazing.

  2. From my past school baseball team, he was talented , and a tall back catcher. He is an african american, has a great arm and could throw out anyone trying to steal second base. He couldn't be stopped and would always try to show that he belonged behind the plate , and could even owen the bases to. Being behind the plate for him , through my eyes , showed me that he has decantation to the game of baseball. He won the player of the year and an outstanding award for working to be the best , and his name is luqman Mohammed of Bogan High School.

  3. I am introducing my good friend Abdal Ishtaiah. Abdal plays basketball and is somewhat tall. He is light skinned and skinny. When i play basketball with him, I can see it in his eyes that he wants to be the best. Even though if it is just a practice. He is a smart person on and off the court. The dedication he has to the game is unbelievable. I have seen many kids with talent who stop after so many years. But him, he wants it all. He will not let anyone or anything stop him. He has true heart to the game and i think that it is just phenomenal.

    1. Another kid that I am introducing is my good friend Tj Marik. He attends St. Laurence high school. He is 5'9" and is a great baseball player. He isnt in the best shape. He struggles with weight problems. Butm he doesnt let that bother him. He doesnt let the fact that kids call him names because of his weight bother him. He just uses that bad energy, and uses it out on the field. Even though hes been through alot, he had the right mentality. Hes committed to a college and is going away.

  4. My teammate Michele Lewellen is a hard working athlete. At a height about 5’6, she is a fast runner. She has a positive mood which reflects on others. Michele is the number one runner in cross country and track never letting anyone pass her. Even at practice she pushes herself beyond expectations and will not settle for less. When she PRs she believes she did not try hard enough. Other competitors are no threat; she is committed to be the best. Every year Michele wins an award because of her extraordinary dedication. She is the most talented, avid runner I have ever met.

  5. Funny you say she was positive, because my old teammate always cheered me up at our games , due to the fact I. Made an error , and still managed to make myself forget about my msitake .

  6. Mariusz Pudzianowski is the greatest strongman ever. He is a childhood hero to many polish kids with his 5 World Strongest Man titles as well as his 15 Polish National titles and 22 other International titles. When I met him a few years back as a little kid I was amazed of how big he was. His 6ft 1in stature with his ripped body makes him look intimidating. When he competes he uses his agility and pure power to roll through the courses. After his retirement at the age of 32, he became a MMA fighter in the heavyweight division. With a 5-3 record he is not seen as a great fighter but he when he does he destroys his opponents like Bob Sapp who he knocked out in just 39 seconds.

  7. I am write about my friend Alejandro Alvarez who plays soccer he ishard working, and he always put everything on the pitch. He is a cool guy to hang out but when there was game he focus on it. He is 6'1, skinny and fast he can run up and down the pitch. I feel he is the only person I know that has a lot of talent and focus to achieve great things.

  8. I am gonna write about my friend Micheal McCullough who played for tinley park two years ago. I look up to him because he is both really smart and he is great at football. He was in all AP classes and he had a 4.0 gpa when he graduated. That shows that you can be an athlete and still do good in school. He broke the school record for most sacks in a season. He got 21 or 22 but original record was 19. He kept his calm during his big games even when his team was losing. I look up to him because he is a great role model.

  9. I am interesting my good friend Kevin Ehmem from my Special Olympic basketball team. He is 5'9, has blond-ish hair, and is very athletic. He plays very aggressive on the court, and he uses his aggressiveness to score msny baskets. His determination to the game is unbelievable. Me and him have such good chemistry on the court, we seem to congeal every game. Off the court, he is a good student in school. On and off the court, he is a perpetual winner.

  10. Basheer Abdelrazzick AKA "The Bash" is a hard working, sometimes really talented football player. "The Bash" stands at 6 foot 1 inch and weighs about 230 pounds. He is always very determined to make a big play in front of everyone. unfortunately he does not play in varsity games very often, so not everyone can see his talent. But all of his teamates know from being there at practice and JV games that "The Bash" has some talent. He is always rushing to the ball, while shoving defenders out of his way. If he ever does what he did to Tyler Wetzel at practice in a real varsity game, he will be the talk of the town.

  11. I’m going to introduce my friend Matt Paldia. Matt plays soccer from the age of 5. He’s 5’10 with athletic build that makes him stand out from his opponents. As a little kid he was playing soccer in a club with kids his age. However, his talent made him always stand out from the crowd and cause no challenge against his competition. At the age of 17 his hard work and dedication slowly started to pay off as he began to represent our town in professional soccer league. Sadly, his unexpected news from the doctor caused him to stop playing soccer for at least two years because of heel injury. Today, he’s 19 and did not put his talent to waste and continues his career in soccer. He’s a perfect example that shows to never give up and follow your dreams.

  12. Dan Tylka is one of swimmers on the Reavis swim team. He's about 5 foot 9 inches and can't weigh over 160 due to his small swimmer frame. He has brown hair that bleaches to a light brown over the swim season. He's a good and hard working swimmer with a lot of talent at the sport. Some people may not see him as the smartest person person, but he is one of the smartest people in his classes. He's full of random, but interesting facts. He's a good guy and never had an enemy.

  13. Matt Barajas, a 5 foot 5 inch and 160lb athlete is a baseball phenom. He has luscious black hair, along with brown skin and huge thighs. Matt can hit, catch, and throw the ball just as good as anyone in high school baseball. He's not your ideal tall and lanky baseball player, but his small figure and big leg muscles gets the job done. He can always be found in the cages mastering his swing. Matt Barajas is an athlete with a work ethic second to none and love for the sport he plays.

  14. I'm going to introduce my good friend Kyle Galison. Kyle is a really good wrestler, and has been wrestling for four years now. He's 5'9 with an athletic body. All his life, Kyle has been a small guy, but he has worked really hard to get big, very big. The dedication he has to wrestling is unbelievable. Also Kyle is a very good guy, he will try to help as much as he can. He's a perfect example of how working hard will make you bigger and stronger!

  15. Nick Bal is not the average athlete. If you where to take a look at him you wouldn't even think he has talent for any sport. He is about 5'11'' and 200 pounds. He eats around 10 times day and drinks soda with every meal yet he has been the heart of his basketball team since he started playing. Many people will underestimate his ability to shoot. He finished his junior and senior year averaging 20 points a game, 50% from the 3 point line, and 90% for free throws. He was the best in the area for three point shooting 2 years in a row. Although he looks like a slow player, his agility is amazing. He can get past any defender guarding him, draw a foul, and still make the shot. Overall nick is one of the best basketball players Reavis ever had.

  16. Szymon Ceremon is an athlete you should be afraid to play in floor hockey. He was the leading top scorer in goals on our league. He played all 3 years in a row and i had the luck to be on his team for 2 years. With an average of scoring of 3 goals per game you should be nervous when you play him. He is very hard working but has to stop playing sports because he had tore his ACL and now he needs surgery.

  17. My player is Starlin Castro of the Chicago Cubs. He is a very dedicated player but he can lose focus a lot. He is a young Dominican shortstop and is six feet tall. He gets into trouble a lot with the media because he makes many errors on defense and isn't completely focused on the game on occasion, but he is an excellent hitter. He had a 200 hit season two years ago, but has recently struggled at the plate.
