I think there are certain traits to have to be a good teammate. One trait would be not to be negative at all. Having a negative impact on your team can bring everyone down which would cause arguments and no team chemistry. On the flip side of that being positive is one of the most important traits to have as a teammate. I say this because you should pick a teammate up when their down by giving them some motivation. Being positive can change a person’s view from giving up to wanting to try harder and succeed. This can also bring a team closer and have teammates push each other to go harder and compete more. When I first started playing baseball I was not good and I had positive teammates that told me not to give up and keep trying. This made me want to keep practicing and I eventually got better. That is a trait I think every teammate should have.
I agree with you as well all these things are something we look for in a good teammate. Motivation would be key because if you don't have that motivation then you can get anywhere with your team
There are a lot of qualities needed in order to be considered a all round good team player. To figure out what qualities are needed you will need to look back to all the great players who were considered good team players. One imperative quality that many good team mates have is definitely unselfishness. How could you possibly be considered a good team player or even a good team if your best player is selfish. For example, look at the New York Knicks. They have one of the best scorers in the league Carmelo Anthony bu yet they have one of the worst records in the league. This could come from the fact there best player rather shoot the highly contested shot instead of pass to an wide open teammate. Another quality is being able to build team chemistry within your team. There is no way you can full become an outstanding team if you don't a solid bond within the team.
I agree, selfishness can bring a lot of teams down by not passing the ball or sharing the glory. They can have the best players in the world. But being selfish and not passing the ball can make them the worst team.
I agree, having a strong bond with your team can help become successful. Selfishness can bring down a team and aslo break a team apart. If a team doesn't work together they would more likely become unsuccessful.
To be a good team player one must place the needs of the team before their own needs. In order to be successful at anything, one must be able to make sacrifices. Time is one of the biggest sacrifices an individual must make, in order to improve as a teammate you must dedicate your time in order to get better. You must be able to communicate with your teammates, in sports communication is huge for success. Everyone on a team must be able to get along and limit the amount of tension that occurs during the season. No matter what your role on a team may be, you must be a good teammate, this means you must always be ready to defend your teammates and stick by them. Adjusting to the needs of team this may also mean adjusting the way you play to achieve the goal that a team sets. Learning and being a good teammate is something one can carry throughout their life.
To be a good team player you have to be dedicated. If you are not dedicated then what is the point of playing the sport. Then you will just make your team lose if you do not show you care. Also, you have to be able to give it your all and be on time for practice. Without dedication there will be no team and no champions. Another trait to be a good teammate is to be a good listener. You have to be able to listen to the coach and players. If you listen to them then everyone will get along and not everyone will have problems. This will cause the team to have a connection being able to understand each other. The last and final trait is to be able to control your angry. If not able to then you will make everyone mad because you are bringing the team down with your negativity. These are the traits you need to be able to be a good teammate.
I agree with Alexis's statement on how players have to have dedication on the sport because if they don't ,then whats the point of playing in the sport, might as well leave and let someone else be in it that is more dedicated to it.
I agree with Alexis sacrificing and dedicating yourself to a team shows that you care about the team. It will allow the team to build chemistry if everyone is on the same page.
In my opinion, to be considered a good team player, in any sport, you need many qualities. You need first off to have good communication, you can’t be a team player without communication because then without communication you’re just selfish and being selfish can’t really win you games. You have to be friendly with your teammates. Also you would need to give it your all every time you play and or practice because then it can show that you are dedicated on what you are doing. Being positive can also benefit that team because then if your teammate see that you are positive it might rub off on them too and you will all reach the goal you are trying to reach. Lastly, you would need that fire within but also you would need o control that fire because if you don’t then it can get out of hand and that can cause mayhem .
I agree with the statement because if you have no communication will be chaos, and it's very hard to win any games or play any good plays the communication.
I agree with Aldo's statement on how good team players have to communicate with there team because if they don't then not only the player would be bad but also the team.
I think there are a lot of things to make you a better player well first of all, you must be a very cheerful person, you cannot be negative at all to your teammates, you have to make your teammates feel better not worse even if they're not the best, you must be very organized, when you're playing with other people you must also communicate very well, if you don't communicate well there'll be chaos and nobody will know what to do or they will do it wrong. Respect is probably the most important thing in sports and teams, if you do not respect the sport, plays, team members, or the coach, then you shouldn't be playing, all players must have respect for themselves and for others In order to be a good team member.
Last but not least you must have some kind of leadership, even if you're not a leader you still must have some kind of leadership to show that your confident.
A good team player has many good qualities. A good teammate is not selfish in his decisions. He knows what he is doing. They have show up to practice on time and never miss a game. A good teammate has good energy and enthusiasm for the game. He does everything for the game not for himself. He knows how to bring the team together not apart. He always listens to his coach and does what he's told. He complements his teammates when they make a play or does something right. A good teammate is humble and lets his actions do the talking. He shows commitment to the team and has good communication skills. He never gives up and shows that he has integrity. He perseveres till the very end and believes his team always has a chance to win. A good teammate is someone you can rely on and trust.
There are certain distinct qualities that good teammates have. One is enthusiasm. You have to show energy and effort in your play so it can motivate other players to do well. If the teammate doesn’t have any energy it’s going to bring everyone else down. Another is being helpful. An example is giving tips on how to shoot a basketball, kick the soccer ball, or throw a football. They care about their teammates and help them out when they’re having a problem with something. Another quality is insight into the game the player is playing. This goes hand in hand with the point I mentioned earlier about football and basketball. You have to know how to play the game. No one is going to want a teammate that turns the ball over everytime they touch it, or a teammate that doesn’t bother sharing the ball. Those qualities make a good teammate.
In order to be a good team player, one must have the ability to communicate well with their teammates. Whether someone is calling for a ball, or letting someone know that they are guarded, one must be able to communicate effectively what is going on in the game. Let’s say a fly ball is hit in baseball and two players are running towards the ball and they crash into each other. That is not only embarrassing, but also terrible teamwork. All it would take is a simple “I got it” to prevent a moment of ridiculousness. Also communication is necessary off the field to develop good chemistry with people once on the field. It's a lot harder to be a team player if no one on the team likes you. Therefore one must be pleasant and not too mean with their teammates. In order to be a good team player, one must be able to communicate effectively with his teammates.
To be a good team player it requires leadership. A person must lead a team to success or get them on track. The person should be a starter but does not necessary have to be a starter because you can be inspirational and not play. Most people believe that a leader should lead on and off the field; so most people believe that a leader must be a starter. A leader should never put their team players down and boost their confidence or help them if they are struggling. They should never complain about a bad call or a coach yelling at them. When things get tough a leader finds a way to help there team relax and be strong. If their is tension and the game is on the line, teammates may become shaky. A leader will show no sign of nervousness even he/she is because it shows others that's not a bad spot to be in.
A good team player is basically the alpha of the pack. Meaning the the leader of the team on the court. The point guard has to know when and when not to score. Point guards should distribute the ball to everyone. They have to be five steps ahead the opponent at all times. A point guard has to step up and talk to the team. I'm not saying point out faults but explain what his teammates should on and also be able to listen and work on what they doing wrong as well. They have to put the team on they back especially in tough situations. The coach and the PG decides who makes the big play and just because you the point guard doesn't mean it has to be them. All of this is good qualities of being a good team player.
In order to be a good teammate a person must be able to bond and connect with his teammates and do what's best for the team even if it's against his original idea. A good teammate is unselfish and is liked by his team and coaches. Being a good teammate doesn't neccesarily mean you have to be a great leader, for example personally I wasn't a great vocal leader but I was liked and respected by my teammates. I had their backs no matter what and I knew that they had mine. Another example of a good teammate would be Michael Jordan. Jordan made sure everyone went hard in practice and if someone was slacking he'll get on you . Although he wanted to win he also wanted eveyone to be their best as an individual which would overall make the team better.
I believe in order to be a good teammate you have to be humble. Get along with your team. Not all people are good teammate eather you dont like to pass the ball. A good teammate can be able to carry the team. Messi is a good teammates. He can get accustomed to any team and play great. He is humble and never likes to show or never says he is better then any other player. Its not easy to be a good teammate. Its hard work but its amazing if you are. Who decides the plays and could get the win for the team is a great teammate.
I believe in order to be a good team player you need to have a positive attitude, be committed, have good communication and also be flexible. Positive attitudes help achieve goals much easier. If you have a negative attitude towards the team or sport you wouldn't care to achieve. Commitment is also a qualification you need to be a great team player. Commitment will push you to want to achieve and succeed in that sport. Communication and flexibility is a huge factor in being a good team player. If you can not communicate with other players the team would not be stable and successful. I believe that all these qualifications are a must in order to keep the team together and stable. I say that you should always have a teammate that you can count on no matter what. Also a teammate who is a hard worker. If they do not work hard in practice they would rarely work hard during games to succeed. When I was on a team I made sure everyone was able to count on me. I worked hard every single day and made sure i practiced to get better.
A team player basically doesn't have a name on the field. He or she praises his teammates in a good game and then looks at his/her own faults after a loss. A team is your family when you're in the game, and you musn't forget that. Because if you do, selfishness takes over and usually, bad things happen. In a team sport, nothing is done individually. Nearly everyone on a field/court has a responsibility. Team work is one of the first things they teach you. Now beware, sports media like ESPN, TNT, Sports talk shows, and anything else that involves talking will make you think otherwise. Often a sports show will praise/discuss one play as if everybody else on their team doesn't matter.
The number one example of this is LeBron. The guy doesn't even need a last name, it's always "Lebron is going up against the Celtics tonight" or "LeBron just topped the Thunder for his 6th straight win." It's like that for every sport. In football, you hear of the Peyton vs Brady Bowl, as if they are playing against one another individually. In soccer, hell I don't even know what team Cristiano Ronaldo is on. But then nearly every player will come out in an interview saying how they are proud of their team and are glad to be a part of it. Sometimes, a reporter will get frustrated at the player's integrity or humility.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you Abe, being negative can bring down not just a person but a whole team down. Then your team and you will not go anywhere in life.

DeleteI get what you mean Abe. I believe we all look for something in that person to believe in and not even just in basketball but in real life as well.
DeleteI totally agree Abe. A good teammate can bring out the best and positiveness in everyone on the team. Great points
DeleteI agree with Abe. If you are a great teammate you can make your team be positive and play better
DeleteI agree with Abe a negative attitude on a team brings the whole team down. Bringing a positive attitude helps the team become better and play well.
